Understanding the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
The CDCP is a federal government program designed to reduce financial barriers to oral health care. It helps cover the cost of essential dental treatments for Canadian residents who qualify based on income and lack access to private dental insurance. The goal is to ensure more Canadians can achieve and maintain good oral health without facing significant financial strain.

Key Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for the CDCP, you generally must:
Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Have filed your tax return for the previous year (e.g., your 2023 return for applications in early-mid 2025).
Have an adjusted family net income below $90,000.
Not have access to any other dental insurance (e.g., through an employer, professional plan, or privately purchased plan).
Understanding CDCP Fees and Your Co-payment
The CDCP covers a percentage of the cost based on established CDCP fees, determined by your adjusted family net income:
Under $70,000: The CDCP covers 100% of the eligible service cost according to the CDCP fee guide.
$70,000 - $79,999: The CDCP covers 60%, meaning you pay a 40% co-payment.
$80,000 - $89,999: The CDCP covers 40%, meaning you pay a 60% co-payment.
Important Note: The CDCP sets specific fees for dental services. There might be a difference between the CDCP fee and the standard fees at Sovrle Dental Clinic for certain procedures. Any difference, plus your co-payment (if applicable), is the patient's responsibility. Our team will clearly explain any potential out-of-pocket costs before starting treatment.

Applying is a straightforward process managed by the government:
